Migraine and Five Sensory triggers:
Migraine headaches are very common and many among us would be having tough time dealing with it.
Migraine is a neurological condition characterised by recurrent unilateral headache. It is characterised by a throbbing pain on forehead along with nausea. Patient usually feel relieved of his symptoms on vomiting. It is often accompanied with light and sound hypersensitivity.
In most of the migraine episodes it is usually triggered by an over utilisation, under utilisation or wrong utilisation of our five sense organs.
Understanding these triggers can help in managing and preventing migraine attacks.
1.Vision Triggers :Photophobia & Eye Strain
•Bright lights (sunlight, fluorescent lights, LED screens)
•Flashing or flickering lights
•Eye strain from prolonged screen time or reading
2. Sound (hearing triggers)
• Sudden or high-pitched
3. Smell (olfactory trigger)
• Strong perfumes
• Cigarette smoke
• Chemical smells
• ?Strong food odour
4. Taste -Dietary Triggers
• Caffeine
• Alcohol
• Skipping meals or dehydration
5.Touch (Tactile Triggers)
•Temperature changes (hot weather, cold winds, extreme humidity)
Migraines can be triggered by multiple sensory inputs, and different people have different sensitivities. Identifying personal triggers and minimizing exposure to them can help in migraine prevention.
