Naranga Kizhi is one of the special ayurvedic therapeutic treatment. In this treatment bolus used is made up of lemon slices, herbal powders, rock salt, herb satahva and garlic which is dipped into the warm medicated oil and then applied on the body in such a way that the Bolus is made to have sudden contact over each adjacent part of the body for a fraction of seconds, so that ample heat is transferred to patients body which makes the body perspire. The procedure begins with a whole body abhyanga, then Kizhi is applied on the affected joints and muscles. The bolus is heated intermittently during the course of the treatment. This treatment is mainly beneficial for frozen shoulder, muscle cramps , muscle stiffness, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, stiffness of joints and joint pain.
